After 2 weeks of summer lessons, I thought I'd share a shot of our music racetrack. Unfortunately, the second week of summer was the week that almost half of my studio went on vacation, so a lot of the racecars are still down at the starting line, and the race is still missing a few students, but you can see that there are a few who have entered the race.
I've also had several students who have already shown the initiative to memorize some of their music, which is what the checkered flags in the middle of the racetrack are for.
We're off to a pretty good start, but I'm hoping that this week will see more cars up and in the race!
Hi Sarah! found your blog last week and LOVE it! I, too, am a piano teacher, and it is refreshing to read how things are going for other teachers out there and that you have many of the same ups and downs that I have....like EVERYONE taking summer vacation at the same time last week! :o)
ReplyDeleteHi Dayna,
DeleteThank you so much for your kind words! I too LOVE the community of music bloggers. It's such a great way to find ideas and creative inspiration for lessons.
That's too funny about last week unofficially being 'vacation week'! I guess when schools let out people were ready to get away (our last day of school here in MD was June 8)! I was a little worried that the early vacations would result in students being less motivated at the start of the summer contest, but so far this week I've been pleasantly surprised! :)
